Brody Greene often finds himself as the last guy on the field or the first one in the locker room -- even by several hours. He'll run extra laps around the baseball field, run the pitching machine by himself, study film of previous games or, in some cases, just sit and pray, reflecting on the game.

Having "passion" for baseball doesn't quite cover it. The Bullard senior has set himself apart from the rest of the baseball players in East Texas, in more ways than one. And, judging by the performances he put up over the past seven days, making him the 104.5 The Team Athlete of the Week.

By the Numbers: In four games last week, Greene hit .585 with two home runs, four doubles and drove in 13 runs. He's batting .522 on the season with eight homers, four triples, 11 doubles and 33 RBIs. The senior shortstop also splits time at pitcher, where he's won three games with 28 strikeouts.

We got to spend a few minutes with Greene in The Team studio this week, and we learned a lot about one of East Texas' best players.

Why do you wear No. 4? Lou Gehrig is my favorite player of all-time, so I've always worn No. 4. He's the type of player I aspire to be.

Lou Gehrig? Does that make you a Yankees fan in East Texas? Yeah, for as long as I can remember, I've just been fascinated with the Yankees' history. Being a fan just came with it.

Do you have any pregame rituals, or are you superstitious? I'm not any more superstitious than the traditional baseball superstitions. My pregame is usually spent listening to music and praying.

Speaking of music, what would I find on your iPod right now? Um, a little Pearl Jam, Nirvana and Coldplay.

What's your favorite movie, TV show and book? Man, that's tough. Probably Braveheart, The Office and The Bible.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years? Playing in the pros, of course.

What's your dream dinner for four with baseball players? Just four? Man ... Lou Gehrig, Babe Ruth, Ken Griffey Jr. and Alex Rodriguez.

College plans: Greene is currently committed to play at Texas A&M, although his chances of being taken in June's MLB Draft are pretty high. When asked what he's planning on doing he said, "It just depends on how high I'm taken and by who. I'm excited, though."

In the classroom: Greene is a favorite among his teachers, his coach, Ronnie Dent, said. "He's one of those guys you never have to worry about doing what they're supposed to be doing," Dent said.

Coach's quote: "In all my years of coaching, I've never coached a player like Brody Greene," Dent said. "And I know there will never be another one like it."

Catch Greene and his Bullard Panthers in action on Friday when they face Carthage for the District 16-3A championship. Game time is 7 p.m. at Panther Field in Bullard.
