I have been a big awards season geek since I was a teenager and I love to watch tv shows and movies, so I am really looking forward to upcoming events like the American Black Film Festival (February 23rd). You can vote for your favorite Movie of the Year nominee here.

The Golden Globes are coming up very soon January 5th), and usually I look forward to watching it. I am,however, sorely disappointed in most of the nominations for the Golden Globes because there is not enough diversity in the nominees for actors and actresses. In fact, there are NO Black women nominated in any of the television categories, namely Best TV Comedy, TV Drama, Limited Series or Supporting Actress! How rude! (LOL)

    The Red Carpet

Despite the disappointing lack of representation at the Golden Globes, I will be watching when it comes on January 5, 2020! I love to see what celebrities are wearing on the red carpet! Remember that iconic moment when Issa Rae said, "I'm rooting for everybody Black." I felt that in my soul, girl!

    Dolemite Is My Name

Over the holiday weekend I re-watched the new Eddie Murphy hit, Dolemite Is My Name (Netflix), which is nominated for Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy.

Eddie is also nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy at the Golden Globes.

I still need to go see the movies Us (HBO), Queen & Slim and Harriet (even though I've heard some terrible reviews about the last two movies). Speaking of Harriet, the leading lady of the film, Cynthia Erivo (Harriet), is nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture category.

    Billy Porter

I am rooting for Billy Porter (Pose) to win the Best TV Drama Actor category. He gives me life every time he comes on the screen, plus he is usually one of the best dressed people on the red carpet!

    The Politician

As far as Golden Globe-nominated television shows go, I binge-watched The Politician this weekend. It is nominated for Best TV Comedy. I freaking love that show and I especially appreciate that it has a diverse cast (plus it's got Jessica Lange, Bette Midler, and "Papa Pope" in it!).

    Beyonce

I am rooting for Beyonce to win because she is nominated for her song, Spirit, from the nominated animation movie, Lion King.
