On December 9th, 1970 in Chicago, Illinois Donnie Hathaway recorded one of the biggest holiday songs ever.

As far back as I can remember that and the Jackson 5 Christmas songs were the ones I remember my mom listening to and that came on the radio.

The energy and soul put in that record is legendary and you never get tired of hearing it for the holidays!

It has been covered by tons of artists across all genres of music including Chris Brown, The Whispers, Christina Aguilera, Gloria Estefan, Harry Connick Jr., and many more.

In January 1979, a New York recording session with Hathaway was cut short when friends close to him reported erratic and weird behavior.

One of the saddest and most shocking events of all time in Black Music happened when hours later, Donnie Hathaway, jumped from his 15th-floor hotel balcony, committing suicide.

He was only 33 years old.

We are very thankful to have this timeless classic, for the holidays.
