On the 20th anniversary of her tragic and shocking death in a plane crash, the late great Aaliyah and her legacy has once again been placed back into the public spotlight in a good and bad way.

For one, her music, which has not been available on streaming sites for years is now available for fans which is a good thing. On the other hand, her name has been making headlines in a bad way due to the opening statements and testimonies in disgraced R&B singer R. Kellly's sex abuse trial where prosecutors allege Kelly impregnated and then married a then underaged Aaliyah to keep her from testifying against him.

This didn't stop fans from around the world from sharing their love and memories of the late star and after many years of silence, Aaliyah's uncle, music executive Barry Hankerson, is speaking out about it all and he recently spoke exclusively to The Rickey Smiley Morning Show.

Hankerson who founded Blackground Records where Aaliyah was their top star, has revealed that there is NEW music on the way from the late star has he revamps his label "Blackground Records 2.0".

He also shares memories of his niece and he talks about how R. Kelly negatively impacted their family.
