Some sad news we're learning of on Tuesday as a famed actor who appeared in various TV and movie roles from the 60s up until the 90s has passed away.

Actor Yaphet Kotto passed away on Sunday in The Philippines where he lived with his wife Goldhar according to CNN. He was 81 years old.

Kotto appeared in many films in notable roles including Bond villian "Mr. Big" in "Live & Let Die". He also appeared in "Alien", "Across 110th Street", "Midnight Run" and one of my personal favorites "The Running Man" with Arnold Schwarznegger. Interesting fact: "The Running Man" is set in the "year 2017"....

He's most notably remembered for his long run on the TV series "Homicide: Life On The Street" where he played Lt. Al Giardello for 7 seasons in the 90s.

There was no cause of death given but Kotto's nearly 4 decades of work will always remain. We send our condolences to his family, friends and fans.
