Texas Parents Need to Know About the Deadly New TikTok Challenge
It’s alarming and scary to find out about all these new challenges popping up online, and the fact that it’s enticing kids to try them out. The newest TikTok challenge has already taken the life of one teen and I want to help spread the word so it doesn’t happen to another teen here in Texas.
The new sensation on TikTok is called the Benadryl Challenge and I’m pretty sure you know what that means. Essentially, it’s encouraging a group of kids to take way more than the recommended dosage of Benadryl. It’s obviously very dangerous and parents need to talk to their kids about the dangers of taking pills that are not prescribed for them. It can turn deadly.
More Details on the Benadryl Challenge
According to KXII, the challenge encourages teens to take between 12 and 14 Benadryl pills and that would create a hallucination effect. Unfortunately for the Stevens family, their son Jacob who was 13-years-old took more than the online challenge said to take leading to being on a ventilator for six days before passing away.
Other Kids Were Videoing the Challenge
When this deadly challenge took place Jacob’s friends were watching and recording the incident before his body started seizing.
Jacob’s parents want to make sure this doesn’t happen to any other parents; they are asking lawmakers to put an age restriction on buying medicine like Benadryl. His parents are also hoping to see age restrictions on TikTok in the near future. But for now, make sure you talk to your kids about the dangers of the Benadryl challenge.
