Brian McKnight Talk About His Final Album ‘Exodus’ With Shawn Knight

Brian McKnight has done it all since his debut album Brian McKnight in 1992.

Now in 2020, with a new wife and different perspective on life he made the decision to step away from recording new material after the release of his new album 'Exodus' which was released June 26th which is his final album.

The last time I saw Brian was in 2006 after a performance at the Star Plaza Theater in Merrillville, Indiana since the release of his 9th studio album 'Ten' so it was great to catch up with him and see how things have been since his new wife Leilani and dealing with COVID-19.

When I heard about 'Exodus' being his final album it took everyone including myself by surprise on why this would be a final album?

It's going to be the last album of original music.  With 20 albums in 28 years I think I'm tired a little bit.

Brian mentioned since COVID-19 this has been the longest break he has been on in the last 25 years and knowing he wouldn't have taken this break by himself.

His voice and mental capacity needed it so when he returns back on stage it will be able to appreciate it more and so will his fans.

The new album 'Exodus' has 13 tracks and the first 11 songs on the album are dedicated to his wife of almost 3 years Leilani and as a matter of fact since they've met every song has been about her in some way.

Also to some who may not know Brian McKnight had a special relationship with former Los Angeles Lakers legend the late Kobe Bryant and dedicated a song to him and his daughter Gianna "Can't Say Goodbye."

Brian McKnight isn't retiring from making music and he not saying he won't release another album he just wanted to enjoy time away from the spotlight which is well deserved.
