A big congrats goes out to Childish Gambino aka Donald Glover, because his Awaken, My Love! album is now gold. The actor, rapper, writer and comedian hit the 500,000 sales mark on June 29, which was announced by the Recording Industry of America.

The impressive news comes after it was announced that Glover's ubiquitous "Red Bone" single went platinum, which definitely brought new fans to Awaken, My Love!. The album is the second LP to go gold for the Georgia bred-artist, his first being Because the Internet.

Despite his latest LP being attached to the name Childish Gambino, the 33-year-old said he was retiring the moniker once and for all.

"I feel there's gotta be a reason to do things, and I always had a reason to be punk," he said in an interview with Huff Post. "Being punk just always felt really good to me, and we always looked at Atlanta as a punk show and I feel like the direction I would go with Childish Gambino wouldn't be punk anymore."

Again, a giant salute goes out to the talented renaissance man, who's had one heck of a 2017 so far, to say the least.
