Dallas Flight Forced To Make U-Turn To Return Human Heart
When traveling on a plane I can understand leaving behind a hat or many some earplugs, but how can you leave a human heart?
According to Fox News, a Southwest Airlines flight to Dallas from Seattle was forced to make a U-Turn while in midflight on Sunday (December 9th) after flight officials realized a heart was left behind on board which was intended for a patient at a Seattle hospital.
Passengers were concerned and used their phones to learn about the condition of the heart which only had hours to remain useful for the transplant.
Southwest spokesman Dan Landson said,
Nothing is more important to us than the safety of our customers and the safe delivery of the precious cargo we transport every day.
After the heart was delivered, passengers were told to deplane as the aircraft had suffered and unrelated mechanical issue. After a five-hour delay they once again departed for Dallas.
Look for this to be a potential episode of Grey’s Anatomy!
