This Friday, the Empowerment Community Development Corporation and the Texas African American Museum will be honoring Veterans from East Texas, First Responders and others with a special event taking place all day long at the museum plus you'll get a chance to learn some history.

It's the 4th Annual Thank You For Your Service Community Meet & Greet taking place at the TAAM on Friday July 30th from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This event is being called a "Come & Go" event but you're invited to tour the museum and enjoy food, live entertainment from Ramoth Gilead, you can also check out the Tyler Museum of Art's  "Off the Walls" Free Summer Pop-Up, the Vaughn School of Excellence presents: Letters from a Buffalo Soldier and you can meet Davon Ferguson, Ms. Juneteenth Queen 2021.

The purpose of the event is to show thanks and gratitude to 86 people in the East Texas community who have served in our nations military, law enforcement officers and first responders. They will receive, a one of a kind, Thank You For Your Service, in the Community Award, made on porcelain vitrified translucent ceramic.

Also, you definitely want to stop by and check out the Buffalo Soldiers Traveling Exhibit which will be on display at the Texas African American Museum and you can meet the Buffalo Soldiers from the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department.
