Eddie Murphy To Be Inducted Into NAACP Image Awards Hall Of Fame
Coming off the stellar success of "Coming 2 America" and an incredible acting and comedy career, the legendary Eddie Murphy is getting his just due.
The NAACP just announced via press release that Murphy will be inducted into the acclaimed NAACP Image Awards Hall of Fame during this year’s 52nd NAACP Image Awards on Saturday, March 27th.
In a statement the NAACP said the following:
The Hall of Fame Award, which will be presented by Eddie Murphy’s collaborator and long-time friend Arsenio Hall, is bestowed on an individual who is a pioneer in his or her respective field and whose influence will shape the profession for generations to come. As one of the most commercially successful actors in the history of the motion picture business, Murphy has entertained and kept audiences laughing for over 40 years.
Murphy's track record is incredible indeed. He started doing stand-up comedy as a teenager and by the time he was 21 years old, he was a cast member on Saturday Night Live and had a box office hit with "48 Hours". From there, Murphy became one of Hollywood's biggest stars, appearing in more than 70 movies and he's also won several awards including 2 Image Awards, a Golden Globe, Emmy, Screen Actors Guild, Grammy and earned an Academy Award nomination in the process.
The 52nd Annual NAACP Image Awards will air on BET and simulcast across ViacomCBS Networks including CBS, BET Her, VH1, MTV, MTV2, and LOGO beginning at 7pm CST with performances by Jazmine Sullivan, Maxwell and more.
