Walt Disney World guests witnessed quite the scare earlier this week when a fire broke out mid-fireworks show.

On Monday (April 11), Epcot held its daily 9PM (ET) showing of their latest fireworks and water show, called Harmonious, at the World Showcase Lagoon, surrounded by the various country areas featured in the theme park.

The show typically lasts 20 minutes and features barges with digital projections, fountains, pyrotechnics, lights and fireworks.

Guests are treated to the best moments from some of their favorite Disney classic films, but during the Princess and the Frog segment, a fire broke out in a group of bushes lining the lagoon.

Guests on site took videos of the flames and smoke that could be seen near the loading dock for the Friendship Boats that transfer guests across the lagoon from one side of the theme park to the other.

Guests were seemingly evacuated from parts of Epcot during and after the incident, as seen in videos posted on social media of parkgoers being escorted out of the indoor area of the Mexico pavilion.

According to a report, staff did not call the local Reedy Creek Fire Department to respond because a brave Cast Member took a fire extinguisher and managed to put the flames out in under a minute.

Visitors who were on site during the emergency believe that debris from the fireworks may have sparked the fire.

Even the Most Magical Place on Earth isn't immune to disasters and accidents.

In March 2022, a fire broke out during the Disneyland Paris park's daily stage show. Similarly, either a guest or Cast Member came to the rescue and managed to stomp out a flame that had been caused by a pyrotechnic effect.
