Charges are being filed against a fire fighter for using a racial slur and spitting at a toddler at a Hooters in Overland Park, Kansas.  KCTV 5 reports that an African American family was dining at Hooters for a birthday party when the three-year-old roamed away from the party.

When the family member when to pick up the child another customer used a racial slur and then spat at the child.  A witness couldn’t believe their ears of what came out the mouth of the individual and left them speechless.

Just get the lil ****** up off the floor!

The witness thought an altercation would occur, but the authorities was notified and when interviewed the offender said he was a first responder.  The offender was charged with battery and making a criminal threat.  The child’s grandfather spoke about the situation, but kept his identity unknown in fear of retaliation.

My whole body just went numb.  How could someone do that to a child? He’s a baby. He’s helpless. He didn’t deserve that.  This society needs to come together.  When it’s a child, it’s not right.

Hooters has released a statement following the incident:

Hooters does not tolerate any harassment or discriminatory language, the safety and well-being of our guests and employees are our utmost priorities.

Of course, it goes without saying that our policy is to fully cooperate with any law enforcement investigation.”
