A former Tyler basketball coach wants probation for alleged burglary with intent to commit a sex crime! Jakeal Latrenton Lockett pleaded guilty to burglary with intent to commit an assault by offensive touching, instead, which is a lesser charge. According to TylerPaper.com, his lawyer would like to have him receive a sentence of seven years of deferred adjudication. The sentence would basically be probation, according to the Tyler Morning Telegraph. The assistant district attorney for Smith County said he spoke to the victim and the victim's father and they agreed with the proposed resolution. Sentencing is scheduled for September 20. He is accused of breaking into a University of Texas at Tyler student's apartment, kissing and hugging her without consent and laying on top of her.
