Free testing for COVID-19 will be offered this Friday, December 4 from 8 am - 4 pm at the Pitser Garrison Civic Center in Lufkin. This will be a mobile, drive-thru testing at 601 North 2nd Street in Lufkin.  Pre-registration is not mandatory, but it is highly encouraged.

Active cases of COVID-19 are spiking across the nation, the state, and right here in the Pineywoods.  As of this writing Angelina County is reporting 224 active cases and Nacogdoches County is reporting 132 active cases.  Both of those numbers are quite a bit higher than the norm of about a month ago.  Other area counties who are seeing their active cases going up include Tyler County (26), Trinity County (12), and Shelby County (31).

If you have been exhibiting any of the classic symptoms of COVID-19 such as shortness of break, cough, fever, loss of taste or smell, or fatigue, you are encouraged to take advantage of this free opportunity.  Likewise, if you have been exposed to a person or persons that have tested positive, please get registered for this testing.

Results from the mobile testing event will be available 3 to 5 days after testing. If results are positive for COVID-19, your local health department will contact you directly. Otherwise, you will receive an automated phone call for negative results. If you have any questions or concerns, call 1-844-778-2455.
