We lost way too many rappers in 2020 but the one that hit closest to home here in East Texas was the shocking daytime shooting death of Dallas rapper Mo3. His murder sent shockwaves through Dallas and caused an uptick in violence throughout the city. The push for justice in his case is officially underway.

According to The Dallas Morning News, grand jurors in Dallas County indicted Kewon Dontrell White, 22, in the November shooting death of the rapper, whose legal name is Melvin A. Noble.

Mo3 was gunned down in the middle of the day on Interstate 35E in Oak Cliff near the Dallas Zoo. Police said the rapper pulled over on the road and tried to flee his car. But the driver of another car also stopped and chased him with a rifle. The other driver shot Noble several times, before driving north on the interstate.

White was arrested nearly three weeks after the shooting and he is in federal custody on a felony charge of possessing a firearm in violation of a previous felony conviction. He is scheduled to stand trial in federal court in April on those charges and faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.

If convicted of murder, White could be sentenced to as much as life in prison with the possibility of parole according to the report.
