Holiday Inn Resort on Lake Palestine to Lay Off 82 Employees
(KNUE-FM) We hate to hear about anyone in East Texas losing their job, and unfortunately that is the reality for 82 people at the end of November. According to KETK, Holiday Inn on Lake Palestine is preparing for the layoffs.
Holiday Inn Resort Files WARN Notice
The information was made public through a notice from the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) system. This system requires notice 60 days in advance for any plant closures or mass layoffs, which included the Holiday Inn Club Vacations Villages Resort at Lake Palestine.

Layoffs to Affect Dozens of East Texas Employees
According to the article, the layoffs are expected to go into effect on November 28th. These layoffs will impact office administration, an assistant general manager, manager of guest services, assistant managers and several other positions.
As expected, Holiday Inn has stated they will make sure that all employees are paid all wages and benefits through the date of the layoffs.

Layoffs Come at a Difficult Time for Workers
Although this really couldn’t happen at a worse time, as we all know there are many businesses that are struggling right now, and they are doing what they need to cut expenses to keep the business profitable. But this means hardworking East Texans are going to be looking for a new job right as we are in the middle of the holiday season.
Hopefully, with notice of the layoffs, this will give employees some time to plan for their next job. Although, this is difficult news to take given the current state of our economy. We are wishing these employees nothing but the best as they look for their next job.
