Texas Man Arrested After Dropping Flash Drive at Sheriff’s Office
(KNUE-FM) This has to be one of the most unusual criminal cases of the year so far in Texas, as a sex offender dropped a thumb drive full of child porn after his compliance check, this according to the Parker County Sheriff’s Office.
NBCDFW is reporting that 66-year-old William Raymond Catron was arrested on March 22 on first-degree felony charges of possession of child pornography and second-degree felony charges of failure to comply with sex offender registration.

What Happened During the Compliance Check
Russ Authier, a spokesperson for the Parker County Sheriff’s office, reports that Catron was arrested following a sex offender compliance check where he dropped a flash drive on the ground of the Parker County Sheriff’s Office parking lot as he was leaving.
A visitor found the flash drive and turned it over to the PCSO station personnel.

What Investigators Found on the Device
After examining the flash drive, more than 2,000 images and 100 videos of child pornography were found in addition to several selfie photos of Catron.
Surveillance Footage Confirms Incident
The exterior of the PCSO building has cameras which show Catron retrieving his vehicle keys from his pocket and at that same time the thumb drive is seen falling from Catron’s pocket to the ground.
Catron was contacted and asked to return to the sheriff’s office. He complied and was taken into custody by PCSO investigators. During an interview, Catron admitted to possessing the child pornography.
A search warrant was executed on his residence where additional electronic devices were seized as they were suspected of containing child pornography.
Catron was booked into the Parker County Jail without incident and bond was set at $750,000.
