Ohio Becomes 24th State To Legalize Marijuana, Can Texas Be Far Behind?

I actually find it crushing when another state legalizes weed.

I guess I have to take a step back and say, although I am, uh experienced, it's something that's not in my life anymore. To be honest, I don't really have many people in my life who do it either. I still 100% believe that any adult should have the option to enjoy weed if it works for them.

Now, back to why it "crushes me" when another state legalizes pot. Texas, and Texas farms would be near-perfect places to grow marijuana for all uses. It is a horrible disservice to our farmers that marijuana is not among the planting options. Farmers who can diversify their crops stand a much better chance of making a buck.

Let's not pretend that Texas doesn't have millions of marijuana users. Right now all of that money is going to other states or being funneled through illegal organizations. We also continue to arrest and jail some offenders which feels really crazy given what they're doing is legal just a state over.

Governor Greg Abbott has stated that marijuana "will not be legal on my watch". Since he has a stranglehold on the red party in a red state, things look grim. Personally, I have a really big problem with a politician who makes it about what he wants, or how he wants to be seen, versus recognizing the will of the people and facilitating those wishes. For this reason, I don't believe we'll be the 25th state or the 35th state, but closer to the 50th state to legalize marijuana. It's embarrassing, it's not what the people want, and Texas is losing billions each year by not joining the party.
