(East Texas) Summer vacation is quickly coming to an end for students across East Texas. Those lazy sleep-in days will soon be replaced by the sounds of early alarm clocks and parents waking up some very sleepy kids.

Summer Vacation Is Almost Over

Back-to-school commercials from Walmart and Kohl's are already airing on television. They began airing right after the celebrations ended for America 250 on July 4. While there's still time to squeeze in a trip to the water park, an amusement park, or one last summer vacation, routines will soon have to be re-established.

Back-to-School Shopping Is Beginning

Which East Texas Schools Start First?

I did some digging and found that the earliest first day of school is Monday, August 3, and the latest first day of school is August 20.

Students in the big East Texas districts have a couple of weeks of summer left. Tyler ISD and Jacksonville ISD both begin on Wednesday, August 12, with Longview ISD beginning Monday, August 17.
