27 Arrested On Felony Charges During Final Week Of June In Gregg County
You might think because it's so hot and humid in East Texas that crime would trend down during the summer months. That's just not the case. Just like mail carriers who aren't stopped by snow, rain, heat, or gloom of the night, neither are criminals. Criminals will strike at any time and since it's hot outside some are opting to strike from the comfort of their air-conditioned home from behind a keyboard.
East Texas does have an ugly side.
Crimes are being committed against people and property every day. Others are dealing, manufacturing, or using illegal drugs, choosing to drink too much alcohol, and getting behind the wheel of an automobile, along with those that take part in organized crimes, crime is non-stop. Because of that Gregg County, Texas law enforcement is always on the lookout for those who choose not to play by the established rules.
Last week, 134 people were booked into the Gregg County Jail on various charges - mainly misdemeanors, however, out of those 113 people, 27 were booked on at least one felony charge.
Among the felony charges that some people in the Gregg County Jail are facing, one is 'making terroristic statements or threats against peace officers or towards a judge in Texas'. You can't do that, it's a felony offense and you can be arrested for it a couple of individuals were arrested for doing this last week in Gregg County.
