This week's Pet Of The Week has a striking resemblance to last week's Pet Of The Week, Henry. While there is a resemblance in appearance there's nothing more. Parker is a Plott Hound mix dog.

According to the American Kellen Club, the Plott Hound is an intelligent, alert, and confident breed. The breed can be tail-wagging, and people-loving but at the same time standoffish. As pups, this breed should be exposed to a wide variety of people and other animals, something that appears not to have been done early on.

Parker is about a year old and he's available for adoption from Pets Fur People in Tyler. He weighs about thirty-five pounds and is super energetic and loves to play chase and fetch.

Being young and a characteristic of his breed, Parker can be a bit timid. Pets Fur Peoples's executive director Gayle Helms says that after a little love and attention, he is a trusting guy. He is looking to be placed in a household that has older children because of his energy level.

Parker will go home with a starter kit of food, a big fluffy dog bed, a collar and leash, and a certificate for half-price basic obedience training from Tyler Obedience Training Club.

For additional information on adopting Henry call 903.597.2471 or check the Humane Society’s Pets Fur People website. Pets Fur People requires a completed adoption application before arranging a meet and greet. Check out the animals that are available for adoption. Adoption hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10 am until 5 pm - closed for lunch 1-2 pm.

The Humane Society’s Pets Fur People is the only brick-and-mortar no-kill shelter in East Texas. Pets Fur People offers routine vaccinations, except for rabies, to the public for dogs and cats. Follow Pets Fur People on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Please be a responsible pet owner - spay or neuter your pets. Donations are appreciated.
