New QT Coming to Longview Where Red Lobster Stands

(Longview, Texas)  You're not always aware of how much gas is in your vehicle's fuel tank or how much fuel is in your own tank until you notice the low fuel light on your dashboard, or your stomach is grumbling from lack of food, and it's time to eat.

Driving around Loop 281 in Longview, there seems to be a dead zone where there are no gas stations or convenience stores to get that fill-up that you need for both your vehicle and your body.

Driving eastward on Longview's Loop 281, there is a Shell station at Bill Owens Parkway, and you won't run into another gas station again until you hit Airline Road and find the Murphy USA, both outside the loop. You don't realize there is a long stretch of road without a filling station until you need one.

That will soon be changing, though. A new multi-pump convenience store chain is about to change the face of the intersection at Loop 281 and McCann Road (Spur 63).

A new convenience store/gas station will replace Red Lobster

The southwest corner of that intersection will soon be home to a new QT (Quick Trip) convenience store, replacing the now-defunct Red Lobster restaurant.

Red Lobster was one of the stars on that corner since it opened in 1981 (CBS 19), but that all changed when the company closed hundreds of stores nationwide in May 2024. That corner could soon change thanks to R.B. Sandrini Farms filing for a development permit for the location at 3515 McCann Road.

QT plans on opening a second location in Longview

According to the City of Longview, the current building will be removed to accommodate the new convenience store and gas fueling island. This will be the second location for the national chain. So far, no dates have been announced when it comes to construction and the grand opening.

QT opened its first location in Longview on Eastman Road at I-20. Once this second location is open, if you discover your gas light is on or you feel the hunger pains come on in the area of McCann and the Loop, you'll have a quick place to fill up both your tank and your belly.
