Two Texas Cities Named Among Those In The US With Lowest Cost Of Living
You got paid on Friday and here it is a couple of days later and you're looking at your bank account wondering where all of your money went so quickly.
We can rightfully blame it on the economy. As the cost of living continues to soar in East Texas, employee wages remain the same we're going to have less money.
The fact of the matter is, that living in East Texas simply costs more than it did say a year ago.
The things that are eating away bank account:
- housing - ownership or renting
- insurance - auto, home and even medical
- utilities - cell phone, water, gas, electricity
- gasoline
- food - groceries or eating out
While interest rates may have fallen a bit, mortgages are still going up for those who have them. For those wanting to own a home, homeownership is still out of reach for them. Not to mention that insurance rates for homes and vehicles have increased because of natural disasters and theft.
Then there's the skyrocketing prices at the grocery store and restaurants. With so many things working against the working Texan these days it's hard. Many of us are close to living paycheck-to-paycheck, if we're not there already and we can forget about saving for a rainy day.
Texas has 2 cities where the cost of living is less than the national average
When you look across the US for an affordable city to live in, Realtor.com just may have the answer for you. They recently examined data from the Bureau Of Electronic Analysis and compiled a list of the 10 cities in the U.S. that have the lowest cost of living.
Hannah Jones, Realtor.com senior economic research analyst says, "The metros with the lowest cost of living are largely concentrated in the South and the Midwest. These areas tend to be smaller, with only Birmingham, AL, representing the 50 largest U.S. metros, as the 50th largest."
If you plan on moving anytime soon you might want to consider moving to these two Texas cities where it seems to be a bit cheaper to own a home, insure it, and feed yourself.
