Here Are 12 Things You Can Do This Father’s Day Weekend In East Texas

Officially this will be the last Spring weekend of 2024 in East Texas because the Summer Solstice will happen next week. When Summer Solstice happens on Thursday (June 20th) at 3:51 pm, it will be the longest day of sunlight of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. At that point, it'll officially be summer!

So, we're taking a look at some of the things you can do around East Texas on this final weekend of spring, although it'll feel more like summer with lots of sunshine and temperatures hanging around in the mid-90s.

903 Fishing Presents: Father's Day Crappie Throwdown

It'll be a Father's Day weekend tournament where you can win cash if you reel in the biggest crappie. Fishing must be done via a motorized boat. No bank or dock fishing will be allowed in this throwdown. There is a registration fee to participate.

Juneteenth Music Fest

The Kilgore Legacy Foundation presents our annual Juneteenth Celebration! This is an event for everyone so we can spread awareness as we celebrate JUNETEENTH!

The Juneteenth parade kicks off at 10 AM! Setup downtown to enjoy the parade or sign-up to bring out your cars, motorcycles, atv’s, or your horses! Line up will begin at 9 AM. Immediately after the parade, we will have a fun day in the city park. There will be free food, vendors, live entertainment and fun for the kids.

In this fantastical adventure, sixteen-year-old Sarah is given thirteen hours to solve a labyrinth and rescue her baby brother Toby when her wish for him to be taken away is granted by the Goblin King Jareth.
