Getting sick in the state of Texas is never a good thing.

When a Texan gets sick, it comes with a lot of setbacks. We have to miss work and we don't see people we like due to the fear of potentially getting them sick. So nobody likes feeling ill to say the least.

But when multiple individuals get ill, some in the Lone Star State may get a little bit worried about the state's overall health. The concern grows if many Texans have the same disease. It could show there's an outbreak that we should be keeping an eye on.

Recently, this situation has appeared in Texas, as one disease is showing signs of having a high amount of infections.

According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the norovirus isn't necessarily a new type of illness. In fact, we're in the prime season for the disease. But, it's number of cases that has some worried.

The Star-Telegram reports that 1 in 10 individuals have been found to have the illness. The exact amount of cases in the state however can't be determined, as Texas considers norovirus not a reportable condition, as per the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Symptoms Of The Norovirus

If a person is experiencing diarrhea, nausea, stomach cramping, or vomiting, they may have norovirus. The illness can easily spread by contact with something that has virus on it, such as food or touching an area with the germs of Norovirus on it.

The Star-Telegram revealed that washing your hands is the best to avoid contracting Norovirus, and if someone isn't feeling well, for them to stay home. Be smart and safe Texas!
