Texas BBQ Joint Shafted On Gigantic $1200 Dollar Order
A Texas BBQ restaurant took on a huge order and then the customer ghosted 'em. Thankfully, a true Texas "good 'ole boy" stepped in and saved the bbq joints (pork) butt.
First of all, this is pretty lame. Restaurants are one of the riskiest businesses to get into and their owners gamble everything they have just to get up and running. Even successful restaurants struggle in an industry that doesn't allow much room for error.
If clothing doesn't sell or nobody is buying Christmas stuff yet, it sits on the shelf until someone does buy it. Food doesn't work that way.
Food has a limited life span to begin with and once it's cooked, that life span is drastically shortened. You can imagine how losing a $1,200 dollar order can set a place, especially a small, independently owned one way back.
Koop's BBQ in Galveston usually takes deposits first on huge orders but, in this case, it was a last minute deal and the owners thought they were doing someone a solid. Then that someone went with a different place and didn't tell Koop's.
That left Koop's with an order meant for 50 people.

A cry for help on Facebook alerted a good Samaritan who did not 1 but, 2 good deeds.
Happily, Koop’s amended its post later on Saturday to share that a “very nice gentleman” had bought the food, which was then taken to the Galveston Police Department. “And THIS is just another reason why we have the most amazing community on the planet!!,” they added. - chron
