10 Texas Sites That Will Transport You Back in Time
Have you ever wondered what it felt like to live in Texas during its start?
There is a lot of history in Texas, and museums to visit, but sometimes it feels like those places lack the feel of Texas' beginnings. Yes, you can see the artifacts and read about Spanish missions, Wild West towns, and historic sights, but it's just not the same as walking through it.
As someone who loves history and seeing historic sites with my own eyes, I was excited to stumble across a site that listed some Texas places where "you can still experience old Texas."
What are some Texas places that take you back to the past?
According to Traveller's Elixer, 10 Texas places especially feel like a walk-through time when visiting. I've only visited a couple of places listed on the sites list -- The Stockyards and Gruene -- but I can agree that those locations made me feel like I was experiencing Texas as it once was. As best as possible anyway.
Of course, the historic buildings are not filled with what they once were, there is modern technology around, people are dressed differently, and a whole list of other things. But still, both Gruene and The Stockyards felt different than the rest of modern-day Texas.
I was excited to know more places in Texas could make me feel like I was going back in time
I'll always remember how I felt seeing The Stockyards and Gruene for the first time, which is why I'm excited that maybe some other Texas places can elicit those same feelings. If you like to feel history rather than just see it like me, then check out these 10 locations that blast you back to the past:
