Yay! Texas Is Finally Getting A Universal Theme Park
Be patient Texas. It's going to be a couple of more years before it opens but there IS a Universal theme park coming to the lone star state.
The new resort will occupy 97 acres, about 1/4 the size of Universal's Orlando, Florida park. Attendance figures are expected to be about 7,000 visitors a day during the week and twice that, 14K, on weekends
If everything stays on track, it will open in 2026.
Universal Kids Resort will be in Frisco, Texas where the Dallas North Tollway and Panther Creek Parkway meet. Check out a map here.
Yes, Universal KIDS Resort. Don't expect insane roller coasters and amazing, high intensity stunt shows here, it's really meant for the young 'uns.
We also know that the park will have rides, shows, a hotel, and character meet and greets that are all geared toward kids and families. It’s meant to be a 1-2 day destination, so no weeklong vacations here! To quote Universal exactly, the park will include “family-friendly attractions, interactive and playful shows, unique merchandise, fun food and beverage venues and character meet and greets.” - allears.net
Sounds like a really cool, kiddo getaway. (Learn more here.) Frisco is a lot closer than Florida and/or California. Except when it comes to El Paso, we're actually a little bit closer to California than some parts of Texas. There are actually several places outside of Texas closer to El Paso than some of the other cities that are actually IN Texas.
DFW has a 6 Flags and there are other amusement parks all over Texas if the Dallas area is too far. Fiesta Texas is in San Antonio, there are several amusement parks near Odessa and El Paso is home to Western Playland.
