Janet Jackson Remembers Her TV Mom Ja’net DuBois

I'm sure I can speak for everyone when the news of Hollywood Actress Ja'net DuBois making her transition this week shocked us all.

Dubbed as "Black America's Favorite Play Auntie" we have all watched her come through the door of the Evans household for six seasons with her sassy attitude and displaying her taste in fashion.

However, in season five "Wilona Woods" character took a more serious role when she became a mother and adopted a young girl named "Penny" played by none other than Janet Jackson.

Janet took to her Instagram to remember her TV mom by giving her a touching tribute.

I am so very saddened to hear my longtime friend Ja’Net DuBois has passed away. I saw first hand how she broke stereotypes and changed the landscape for Black women in entertainment.  I’m grateful in recent years I had a chance to see her and create more lasting memories. I pray for comfort for all her family and friends.Thank you Ja’Net, I’ll miss you.

Ja'net DuBois passed away in her sleep in her Glendale, California home and there is no ongoing investigation into her death.
