Chances are pretty high that this summer, your kids will have their heads down into their smartphone or playing video games from sunrise to sundown if they aren't involved in anything extra. A local University is offering an opportunity to let your kids do much more this summer than "loaf" around.

Our friends at Jarvis Christian College shared with us details about their Summer Enrichment Program which will allow young people to spend the summer doing great activities while also LEARNING on the campus of JCC. Don't think of it as "summer school" though.

The 10-week educational and recreational program starts on June 7 and runs through August 6 for kids ages 5 to 14 years old. There will be daily educational and recreational activities including a game room, movies, sports and swimming plus breakfast, lunch and a snack will be provided.

The cost is $60 per child and $30 per additional child per family, per week. The initial payment to get your child registered is due by May 21st.

For more information and to get your kids signed up and registered, please contact Rev. Rodney Atkins by email at ratkins@jarvis.edu or by phone at (903) 730-4890, ext. 2171.

Also, if you have a young person in Tyler, the parks and recreation department has open registration for the Summer Playground Program and the Glass Summer Camp for kids ages 6 to 12 years of age and you can click on the button below for more details on how you can get your kids signed up for that as well!
