Actor/Comedian Kevin Hart has stepped down from hosting the Oscars next year after talks about insensitive tweets he posted nearly 10 years ago.

According to Variety, Kevin was being ridiculed for deleting old tweets and refused to apologize for a tweet he made about his son growing up and being gay.

Kevin has gone to Instagram to release a video stating how he has grown and evolved into a different person from 8 years ago and apparently that wasn't enough because a few hours later he released another video stating that the Academy has given him an ultimatum to either apologize or we will have to find another host.

Kevin has then released a statement,

I have made the choice to step down from hosting this year’s Oscars.  This is because I do not want to be a distraction on a night that should be celebrated by so many amazing talented artists. I sincerely apologize to the LGBTQ community for my insensitive words from my past.

Ladies and gentlemen, right now we should think of this moment where we’re talking about issues closer to our own hearts, whether it be #MeToo, or Black Lives Matter.

Let’s have that conversation so we can think about the end game to prevent things like this from happening again.
