The saying goes, "If you don't like the weather in Texas give it five minutes and it will change!"

East Texas has experienced quite a bit this week from Mother Nature! We've endured rain, sleet, freezing rain and snow along with sub-freezing temperatures! At times it was warmer in Anchorage, AK than it was in East Texas! The entire area was under a Winter Storm Warning and then endured a few nights of Hard Freeze Warnings!

The low temperature Wednesday night, after the big ice/snow storm, shattered records in all the major reporting cities in the area - Tyler, Longview and Lufkin. From a story that was published on the KLTV mobile app, Tyler broke the record by one degree where as Longview's new record was a single digit beating the previous record by eight degrees and Lufkin's new low beat the old by five degrees.

Here's how cold it was Wednesday morning in East Texas along with previous records:

Tyler10°11°1957
Longview16°1957
Lufkin13°18°1965

These record low temperatures were also recorded on private weather stations too! Records for Tyler go back as far as 1896, in Longview since 1902 and Lukin started keeping records in 1906!

Now as far as the weather changing in East Texas, it's underway now!  By this weekend we'll be in the upper 60's to near 70 degrees with a chance of rain on Sunday!
