Missy Elliott hasn’t touched a stage in over a decade. So her headlining performance at FYF Fest’s opening night (July 21) in Los Angeles was a rare treat for music fans.

According The Los Angeles Daily News, the legendary rapper delivered an electrifying set of classic hits, including “Work It,” “Lose Control” and “Get Ur Freak On,” much to the crowd's delight. Sadly, Missy also performed a short snippet of “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly).” This seems odd considering that this year marks the 20th anniversary of her trailblazing debut album, Supa Dupa Fly.

There was also plenty of choreography as her break dancers display aerobatic moves onstage during Missy's performance. But the talk on Twitter was about who was in attendance to watch Misdemeanor perform.

Fans caught wind of Beyonce and her sister, Solange, dancing backstage during Missy’s rendition of her latest single, “I’m Better.” Also spotted in the crowd was Janet Jackson and Katy Perry. Even rapper Tyler, the Creator was reportedly in the crowd enjoying the spectacle.

Missy Elliott ended her hour-long set on a somber note as she asked everyone to take out their phones and shine a light for “all the ones we’ve lost.” As her dancers held up photos of the late rappers Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G., Missy paid tribute to her dear friend and collaborator Aaliyah and exited the stage while the late singer's song “Rock the Boat” played on.

The FYF Fest continues Saturday (July 22) with an eclectic bill that includes A Tribe Called Quest, Erykah Badu and a headlining set Frank Ocean.
