Mo3 Shot and Killed

UPDATE (April 24, 2021):

A second man has reportedly been charged in the shooting death of Dallas rapper Mo3.

Devin Maurice Brown, 28, was indicted for his alleged role in Mo3's brazen broad daylight slaying on Wednesday (April 21), according to The Dallas Morning News. Brown has been in custody since Nov. 19, 2020 on an unrelated federal case after authorities discovered AK-47, synthetic marijuana and methamphetamine at his home.

He was charged possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute a controlled substance, and pleaded guilty to those charges earlier this month. Brown and 22-year-old Kewon Dontrell White, who was initially charged with Mo3's murder last December, remain in federal custody.

UPDATE (Dec. 10):

A man has been arrested in connection with Mo3's death last month.

According to police documents obtained by XXL on Thursday (Dec. 10), the Dallas Police Department's homicide detectives determined that 21-year-old Kewon Dontrell White is responsible for the Texas rapper's Nov. 11 murder. White has been taken into federal custody and is charged with murder and prohibited person in possession of a firearm. The bond for his murder charge hasn't been set and will be decided at a later date.

UPDATE (Nov. 11):

On Wednesday evening (Nov. 11), EMPIRE, the label Mo3 was signed to, confirmed the news of his passing.

"EMPIRE has lost a member of our family today - Dallas' own Mo3," EMPIRE said in a statement shared via Instagram. "We share this horrible loss with Mo3's family, team and fans. His infectious personality and unrivaled talent brought joy and therapy to his legions of followers across the country. We can only hope to continue his legacy and push forward with the same energy that Mo3 shared with the world. Love Live Mo3."

The Dallas Police Department also confirmed Mo3 as the victim who died during the shooting incident in a blog post.

"On Wednesday, November 11, 2020, at approximately 12:00 p.m., officers responded to a shooting call on northbound I-35 at Clarendon Drive. The complainant, Melvin A. Noble, a 28-year old Black male, was shot multiple times by the unknown Black male suspect who fled the scene in a dark color sedan. The complainant was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries," the post reads.

Dallas rapper Mo3 has been shot and killed in his hometown.

According to a report from TMZ on Wednesday (Nov. 11), Mo3, born Melvin Noble, was shot and killed just before 12 p.m. this afternoon. The Texas rhymer was transported to a nearby hospital were he succumbed to his injuries.

A rep for the Dallas Police Department confirmed to XXL today that a shooting took place on the I-35 highway at approximately 11:55 a.m. Although the names of the victims and suspects were withheld, law enforcement confirmed that an adult male, presumed to be Mo3, was driving northbound on the I-35 at Clarendon Drive when he was approached by a suspect or suspects, believed to be driving a dark-colored car. The suspect, a Black male, exited his vehicle with a gun and began to approach the victim's car. The victim then exited his vehicle and began running on the freeway in the opposite direction.

The suspect chased the victim, firing multiple rounds and striking him. An innocent bystander, who was sitting in his own car, was shot as well. The second victim is being treated for his injuries, which appear to be non life-threatening.

The suspect in the shooting has not been apprehended.

Earlier this afternoon, the 28-year-old rapper began trending via social media after video footage of a man lying on the shoulder of a highway began circulating online. Reports claimed that the man in the video was Mo3, but the person in the clip has not been confirmed to be him.

Boosie BadAzz, who frequently collaborated with Mo3 and recently dropped a project with the late rhymer called Badazz Mo3 back in February, posted on his Instagram Story a photo of a still shot of the supposed crime scene that was making its rounds on the internet this afternoon. However, the image Boosie posted did not show specific details of the scene. On the photo, Boosie put three praying hand emojis and tagged Mo3's Instagram handle.

Mo3 hit the scene back in 2014, when he dropped his debut project, Shottaz, but became more widely known when he released his song "Errybody" in 2018. Mo3 later offered a Boosie-assisted remix to "Errbody" renamed "Everybody (Remix)" in 2019, which got the streets talking and paying attention to the rhymer from the Lone Star State. His final solo project, Osama, dropped in 2019 as well.

Mo3 spoke with XXL for The Break back in January and shared some insight on himself and his personality. On what most people may not know about him, he said, "I play a lot. Everybody think I'm serious, got an attitude, be mad. I be playing too much. And I don't do no drugs, I don't smoke, I don't drink." Mo3 also aspired to be the next "’Pac, Jay-Z, Michel Jackson, Tyler Perry, Spike Lee, all in one."

He is reportedly survived by three children.
