It was announced last week that $1200 stimulus checks will be sent to Americans within the next three weeks. If you, however, are on the Treasury Offset list for being in child support arrears, your check probably isn't coming in the mail.

As first reported by the House Finance Committee Chairman, Senator Charles (Chuck) Grassley, on Thursday, March 26th, the IRS is not waiving the tax refund offset for "those who have past due child support payments that the states have reported to the Treasury Department."

If your child support payments are more than 90 days delinquent, you should contact the agency you owe money in order to work out arrangements to resolve your debt. You can get more information here or you can find out if your name is on the Treasury Offset list by calling the toll-free IRS number at 1-800-304-3107.
