The New York Police Department has opened an investigation into a commander who reportedly issued a violent threat about 50 Cent to fellow officers.

Commanding officer of the 72nd Precinct in Sunset Park in Brooklyn, N.Y., Deputy Inspector Emanuel Gonzalez, is currently under investigation for statements he made back in June of 2018. During a roll call, he reportedly told fellow officers “shoot him on sight,” referring to the Queens music mogul, according to a New York Daily News report put out on Sunday (Feb. 17). More disturbingly, the statement was made prior to 50 attending a NYPD sanctioned boxing match in the Bronx.

One source for the outlet recalled the incident saying, “The inspector just said that at roll call. I’m like WTF.”

Gonzalez and 50 had a bit of history before the roll call incident. A month prior, Gonzalez filed an aggravated harassment complaint against 50 Cent, claiming the rapper had threatened him on Instagram. He cited 50's use of the term "Get the strap" in reference to the commander shaking down two of the rapper's favorite night spots. He also claimed 50's followers harassed and threatened him in the complaint. 50 eventually took down the post and no charges were filed. Gonzalez has said his statement was a joke.

TMZ has learned Fif may be contemplating taking legal action. The rapper's reps tell the site, "Mr. Jackson takes this threat very seriously and is consulting with his legal counsel regarding his options going forward. He is concerned that he was not previously advised of this threat by the NYPD and even more concerned that Gonzalez continues to carry a badge and a gun."

50 has also reacted to the news via social media. "This is how I wake up this morning, ‍♂️ This guy Emanuel Gonzales is a dirty cop abusing his POWER," he captioned a photo of the article. "The sad part is this man still has a badge and a gun. #NYnotSafe #TheGangstagotabadge."
