Dropping One Letter From His Resume Made All the Difference in the World
This is not your average Joe.
Jose Zamora got tired of not getting any responses, even though he applied for 50-100 jobs a day, so he decided to make a small (but actually large) change. On his resume, he swapped Jose for Joe, which shows an ability to think out of the box. For his sake, he should put that on his resume under "special skills."
Consider his move a success: companies quickly started reaching out to him, saying they would love to talk about the various positions. The irony, of course, is he was applying for the same jobs he had applied to previously.
It's not clear if Jose ultimately got hired, but the experience was eye-opening. He says, "Sometimes I don't even think people know or are conscious or aware that they're judging -- even if it's by name -- but I think we all do it all the time."
