Pets have feelings too. They get accustomed to their owners and the routine of the family. So, it's hard to imagine, but it happens, people move and for some reason, the family pet cannot make the move to the new home and that's exactly what happened to Penny. Her owners moved and were unable to bring Penny along for the new adventure and they surrendered to the care of the Humane Society's Pets Fur People in Tyler, Texas. Now Penny is missing the companionship of a family and is missing seeing some friendly faces every day.

Penny is a 3-year-old Australian Shepherd that weighs about fifty pounds. Her previous owners must have had children and some time to train her on a couple of key things - like going outside to potty. Penny has been house-trained, so it lifts the burden off of you and frees up some of your time and frustration of trying to house-train a dog.

In addition to playing with children well, Pets Fur People's executive director Gayle Helms says Penny also enjoys the companionship of other dogs. Penny will go home with a starter kit of food, a big fluffy dog bed, a collar and leash, and a certificate for half-price basic obedience training from Tyler Obedience Training Club.

For additional information on adopting Penny call 903.597.2471 or check the Humane Society’s Pets Fur People website. Pets Fur People requires a completed adoption application before a meet and greet can be arranged. Check out the animals that are available for adoption. Adoption hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10 am until 5 pm - closed for lunch 1-2 pm. The Humane Society’s Pets Fur People is the only brick-and-mortar no-kill shelter in East Texas. Pets Fur People offers routine vaccinations, except for rabies, to the public for dogs and cats. Follow Pets Fur People on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Please be a responsible pet owner - spay or neuter your pets. Donations are appreciated.
