R. Kelly Cancels Upcoming Tour Dates Because of Poor Ticket Sales?
Amid allegations that he's holding women against their will in a sexual cult, R. Kelly has cancelled four of his upcoming tour dates.
TMZ reports that R. Kelly has cancelled four of the 10 stops he was scheduled to make on his After Party Tour, including appearances in Los Angeles, Dallas, Baton Rouge, and New Orleans, leaving only six shows on his schedule.
Although last week Kelly claimed the show would go on in a video passed around the internet, sources told the publication that the cancellations were due to poor ticket sales amid the scandal.
“I just want to let my fans know, despite all of the crap y'all hearing, I will be coming to the East Coast to do my show,” he said in the video. “And believe me y’all, it’s a bunch of crap."
While sources told TMZ that the L.A. show was cancelled due to a scheduling conflict but didn't comment on the other three stops, sources told Page Six the shows were shut down due to low ticket sales.
“The promoter sent an email to R. Kelly’s team and told them they were set to lose $400,000 if sales didn’t pick up fast," the source told Page Six. "They canceled.”
