Report: COVID-19 Could Spread Rapidly In Intense Workout Classes
Even though we are in Phase 2 of Governor Abbott’s Strike Force to Open Texas I am still skeptic about going outside to enjoy the amenities especially like going to the gym as much as I need to get back into shape.
However, if you are thinking about reactivating your gym membership you might want to think twice about that intense class after a report from the CDC show that a large amount of people from Cheonan, South Korea caught COVID-19 after taking a fitness dance class at the start of the pandemic.
The incident dates back to February 15th and among the 27 fitness instructors who participated, eight have tested positive for COVID-19.
One of the infected also taught yoga, and Pilates, thankfully none of the students were infected.
The author of the study also mentioned the moist, warm atmosphere in a sports facility coupled with turbulent air flow generated by intense, physical exercise can cause transmission of isolated droplets.
For that reason alone I am opting out of going to the gym and stick to my regular workouts at home.
