The Texas African American Museum in Tyler just finished their first round of renovations and is back open to the public on weekends for visitors. There's still more work to do to properly tell the story of Black History in East Texas and beyond so in the coming months there's going to be a few fund raisers to help them reach their goals.

Attention Pageant Queens!

Ladies, if you every wanted to be in a pageant, here's your opportunity to be a TAAM Queen. The Texas African American Museum Presents the "2022 Miss TAAM Beauty Pageant Fundraiser". Entries are open to girls and women in East Texas and surrounding communities. Queens will represent the East Texas Community with Integrity, Professionalism,  and have a platform to make a difference.

Queen categories include:

• Little Miss (age 9-12)
• Jr. Miss (age 13-17)
• Miss (age 18-25)
• Ms. (age 25+)

Texas African American Museum 2nd Annual Black History Gala

The TAAM also announced plans to hold their 2nd annual Black History Month Gala on Saturday Sept. 18th 2023 from 6pm to 9pm at Willow Brook Country Club located at 3205 West Erwin Street from 6pm until 9pm. The guest speaker for this special event is Billy O'Quinn, Director of Supply Chain-Chemical Division for The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. The theme will be "Understanding The Struggle".
