A few days ago, Gonzalo became the 7th named storm of our Hurricane Season.  Usually, we have to wait until mid-September to get into the 'g'-named storms, but this has been a very active season thus far.  Thankfully, the previous six named storms have done minimal damage...let's hope that continues to be the trend.

On Thursday, Hanna became the season's 8th named storm and it's poised to make landfall somewhere between Corpus Christi and South Padre Island on Saturday.  As of now, forecasters at the National Hurricane Center believe that Hanna may intensify to a category 1 hurricane by landfall.  Recurring downpours could bring up to 6 inches of rain along the coastline from near Lake Charles to Galveston to near Corpus Christi.  Deep East Texas will be in line for increased rain chances from Friday through the first part of next week.  An inch or two could be common across the Pineywoods with higher amounts in isolated areas.

Tropical Storm Gonzalo is still too far away to make a solid forecast as to its effects on the coastline of the Gulf of Mexico.  Forecasters believe Gonzalo will strengthen to a hurricane as it approaches Barbados, but then it should weaken back to a tropical storm as it gets deeper into the Caribbean.  We should have a better idea of it's possible track into the Gulf of Mexico by mid-week next week.
