Some things are just worth waiting for, no matter how long it takes. Just ask Colorado Springs, by way of Lubbock, Texas, resident Chris Miller, who waited in a Whataburger line for four days just to be the first customer for their grand opening.

I'm pretty sure there's a movie in the works for this guy. Miller waited out four days in line with temps dipping below zero just to be the first customer at a brand-spankin'-new Whataburger location. Now that's dedication.

Whataburger

Whataburger is no longer a Texas "Best Kept Secret." What started out as a single hamburger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas in 1950 has grown to more than 880 locations in 12 states and 360 cities according to data company ScrapeHero. Make that 361 cities now with the new addition of Colorado Springs.

Whataburger Grand Opening in Colorado Springs

The Texas fast-food staple has expanded their horizons over that last several years, branching out to Arizona, Florida, New Mexico, Colorado, and Missouri. The new location is the first of two new locations that will open this year in Colorado Springs.

Free Whataburger for a Year

So, why was was Miller determined to be the first customer for the grand opening? The pay-off was worth it! Whataburger ran a  "Free Whataburger for a Year" promotion to the first customer in line. Miller tells The Gazette that he came ready for the cold and stayed warm in his truck with a space heater and, of course, a Whataburger scarf.

Texas Hospitality

Miller even showed some of that Texas hospitality he picked up in Lubbock by helping shovel some snow outside the store, and was even on a first name basis with several employees by the time they opened for business.

The Wait is Over

Miller was the first person in when the new store opened its doors to the public at 11 AM that day, and he promptly ordered the #5 - a bacon cheese burger, hold the pickles. He was joined by his son and wife for the big moment.

You can take the man out of Texas, but you can't take the Texas out of the man.
