Texas Teens Hold “Die-In” In Austin To Protest Gun Violence
Texas teenagers are making their voices heard as they gathered outside the Governor’s Mansion downtown Austin Sunday night (May 20th) in protest of the deadly shooting that took place on Friday.
KXAN report, the teens are calling for Texas lawmakers to act and create common sense gun laws after the shooting in Santa Fe which left 10 dead mostly students and injuring others.
During the staged “die in” the students were lying on the ground as if they were dead for 23 minutes where each minute represented every school shooting that occurred since the beginning of the school year. They also held a 10 min moment of silence for the lives lost on Friday.
Texas native Kelly Clarkson who hosted the Billboard Music Awards last night spoke on the violence at the beginning of the program.
Mommies and daddies should be able to send their kids to school, church, movie theaters and the clubs. You should be able to live your life without that kind of fear. So, we need to do better.
Let's continue to let our voices be heard until we receive the necessary changes to make our school's safer.
