Mark Randy Layne and his wife Cheryl Daniel Layne are accused of abusing their twin boys, who are under the age of 14, according to court documents. They were arrested on September 17 and charged with injury to a child, according to EastTexasMatters.com. They were each given a $75,000 bond for the third degree felony charge. On September 13, the boys had told a school resource officer that they were suffering abuse at the hands of their parents.

"The boys told investigators that on September 8 they were in their bedroom cleaning while Mark Layne was putting together their new bunkbeds. According to the arrest affidavit, Cheryl Lane grew angry and grabbed one of the boys by his hair, slamming his head against the wall twice. She then grabbed an archery arrow and hit the other boy on his back with it. The first boy said Cheryl Lane then grabbed him by his hair and neck and threw him against the counter, wall, and on the floor."

The above incident and another on September 12 were what prompted the boys to speak up for themselves. Investigators found evidence in the Layne home of the abuse.
