With cooler weather and shorter days it only means one thing….Daylight Savings Time is approaching!

According to KTXS ABC 12, Daylight Savings Time is ending Sunday November 4th, at 2 a.m. which means we turn our clocks back one hour before you go to bed Saturday night and return to Standard Time.

Here are some fun facts on Daylight Savings Time per CNN:

  • The idea of Daylight Savings Time was by Benjamin Franklin in 1784
  • The Standard Time Act establishes times zones and daylight savings. Daylight savings was repealed in 1919, but continues to be recognized in certain areas of the United States.
  • From 1945-1966 there was no federal law regarding Daylight Savings Time.
  • From 1986-2006 Daylight Savings Time begins on the first Sunday in April and ends on the last Sunday in October.

As we prepare for the time change this weekend here are some friendly tips from the Better Sleep Council on how to prepare for a time change.

You should definitely prepare for some sleep!  Convince yourself that you plan to get 7-8 hours of sleep even if the day is shorter.  Also, make sure you have a good meal, have a firm mattress, and being active during the daytime can ensure a good night’s rest.

Daylight Savings Time returns March 10th, 2019.
