Exciting News For Shoppers In Longview As A New Grocery Store Is On The Way From A Well Known East Texas Based Grocer.
You know folks in East Texas are nosy and when BIG plots of land are purchased, its natural for speculation to begin to run wild throughout the community.
That's what happened in 2015 when Brookshire Grocery Company purchased 8 acres of land on North Fourth Street, south of North Eastman Road.
Brookshire's Didn't Reveal Their Plans At The Time.
According to a report from the Longview News-Journal, In 2022, it bought another approximate acre of land in that area from the city of Longview.
Folks really began to talk in May of this year, when the company brought a final acre of land at the northwest corner of North Eastman Road and North Fourth Street, south of the University of Texas at Tyler Longview University Center.
Its not unusual for big grocery store chains like Wal-Mart and HEB to purchase land and hold it for years just to keep it out the hands of competitors but now we know what Brookshire's plans are.
The Company Plans To Open One Of Its "Fresh" Concept Stores In Longview.
Brookshire's issued a statement where they confirmed that they plan to use the land to build its third "FRESH By Brookshire's" concept which the company says "Offering more than just groceries, FRESH is a place to shop, dine, explore, and taste."
This will be the third "FRESH" location with locations open in Tyler and another in Fate, TX. The location will be built in the 50-acre Park Central development on the Fourth Street extension. No timeline on when it will open but we'll keep you posted!
