According to a press release from the Melissa Texas Police Department, on January 26, at 1:47 pm, the Melissa Police Department was alerted to the possibility of an escaped inmate being in the local area.
The suspect’s vehicle was identified using Flock camera technology in the nearby city of Anna. Flock Cameras use license plate recognition to capture vehicle data like license plate numbers, make, model, and other identifiable features.
Melissa officers located the vehicle in the parking lot of Buc-ee’s in Melissa. The vehicle exited the parking lot and proceeded northbound on the frontage road where officers initiated a high-risk felony traffic stop.
The escaped inmate was wanted out of Alabama.
