(Longview, TX) Maybe you got too busy and forgot or maybe you knew about it this whole time and found every excuse in the world to try to avoid it.

One thing is for sure, if you have a warrant in East Texas, its only a matter of time before something happens and that warrant could come around and bite you on the behind when you least expect.

Thankfully, you'll have the chance to clear it up soon and start the new year fresh in two East Texas cities offering residents a chance for Amnesty.

According to a press release we received, the Longview Municipal Court is once again offering its warrant amnesty program and you now have a chance to get your warrants cleared up because it ends on April 30.

Anyone with an active outstanding warrant through the court is encouraged to take this opportunity to save money and get a fresh start. Anyone that comes to the clerk’s office to take care of their outstanding warrants will be given safe harbor.

  • The Longview Municipal Court will remove all warrant fees when a citizen voluntarily contacts the court to pay a minimum of one half the total amount due and start a payment plan for the balance owed.
  • As an added incentive, anyone that pays in full will also save an additional 20% off the fine amount. The percentage savings is only on the fine, not the court costs.

The program has grown since its start from a one-month to a four-month program. In 2023, 239 people took advantage of the warrant amnesty program, resolving 381 warrants and saving thousands of dollars.

The Lufkin Municipal Court has also announced its Warrant Amnesty Program beginning Feb. 1 running through April 30.

Just like in Longview, Lufkin's court will offer a clear path for residents to be free of debt and arrest if they voluntarily come into the court and figure out a plan. Here's the details on their amnesty program.

  • Warrant fees will be waived if you voluntarily come forward and pay at least half of your outstanding balance, with the remaining balance set up on a payment plan.
  • Pay in full, and SAVE an additional 20% off your fines (not including court costs).
  • There are two extra dates when the Municipal Court will be open on Saturday for payments from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. (Feb. 22 and March 22 only)
  • If you fail to take care of your warrant(s) you are subject to any of the following: arrest, publication of your name online, and increased costs.
